Radio Background:
|
| Changed careers at the age of 30 after getting the shaft at the place I was working. Attended the Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts in Southfield, Michigan in 1985. I was in the right place at the right time when the first ever (in the 13 year history of the school) request for a sports director came through the school's placement office. Interviewed and was hired at WDMJ in Marquette beginning work there in 1985. Left that station in 1988 to work for Bresnan Communications in Marquette where, among my duties, I served as the play-by-play broadcaster for Northern Michigan University hockey. I decided I missed radio (plus I hated covering ANY city council meetings) and I gave my notice to Bresnan in June of 1989 (I planned on leaving before October). To reward me for giving them plenty of advance notice they decided to fire me (which reinforced, for me, the Leo Durocher credo that nice guys do finish last). Four days after getting the boot, Rick Duerson called me to come for a job interview . |

| Favorite Foods |
| Anything mexican |
|
| Least Liked Foods |
| I can't think of any off hand |
|
| Favorite Movie of all time |
| This is a tough one. Near or at the top of the list would be 'A Few Good Men'. The cast was outstanding and even though the political message of the movie was typically liberal, (they got Jack Nicholson) Jack Nicholson's character was right. We do need people like that character in positions like that. The one movie I've ever seen that completely blind-sided me with the ending was 'The Sixth Sense'. |

| Favorite TV show |
| The West Wing, Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. I don't watch anything else on a regular basis. |
|
| Favorite Restaurant |
| As long as the food is decent, any restaurant with good service. |
|
| Most annoying thing that I do |
| I tend to beat dead horses. For some reason I feel compelled to make my point over and over and over and over again. I think it's a result of once having had two teenage children living in my home. |
|
| Best vacation spot that I'd recommend |
| A certain beach in Florida (you think I'm going to tell you?...it's crowded enough already). |
|
| Best Concert I've ever attended |
| Any of the 14 times I saw the J. Geils Band. For those who never saw them, of course, you have no idea what I'm talking about. I would recommend ordering their 'LIVE FULL HOUSE' album. Their studio albums give you no idea. |

| Favorite comic |
| Probably Chris Rock. |
