The Delta Area Animal Society is a non-profit group committed to promoting animal welfare and to educate the public on spay/neutering their animals. Although our primary emphasis is on dogs and cats, we are also concerned for well being of other animals.

The Delta Animal Society holds various fund raising events to generate sufficient funds for our various programs which are designed to help animals and our community.

The Delta Area Animal Society meets the first Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce. New members are welcome.

Visit them at the new website and check out the latest shelter news, animal chat, ask the vet, and so much more!

Shelter News
Shelter Needs:
Canned and dry KITTEN food; pig ears and other dog treats; small kitchen bags (13 gal.); liquid hand soap, and really need some paper towels.

Pet Facts: Not only does spaying and neutering help the overpopulation, it also makes your pet healthier and less susceptible to diseases/cancers and can help curb some behavior issues. Make that important phone call today to have your pet spayed or neutered. Remember, we have local help to assist in payment for lower income families.

Delta Area Animal Society News
One of our programs is called the Cinderella Vet Program. This is an income-based fund designed to assist individuals and families in Delta County with the spaying/ neutering costs of their pets. Federal income guidelines are used to determine what level of assistance the Delta Area Animal Society will provide to the pet owner. In some cases, the owner’s responsibility may be as little as $30.00. The fund can cover from 20% to 80% of the cost of spaying/neutering. Your veterinarian will be able to tell you if they participate in the Cinderella Program and they will be able to answer any of your questions regarding the fund. An application can be picked up at your local veterinarian’s office.

DAAS Current or Upcoming Fundraisers
It is fun, meet fellow dog parents, and it has a new spin to it this year. Remember to save Sept. 18, 2010 for our annual Joseph Heller Memorial Dog Walk-a-Thon. Details will be released soon.
